About · Steve Wareham, founder of AvoTech Consulting

I build AI systems for businesses. I run my own on them first.

I'm Steve Wareham. I run a film studio, a daily news show and Greenville's arts & culture magazine on AI systems I built. Through AvoTech Consulting, I build the same kind of system for other businesses, connect it to the tools they already use, and keep it running.

25 years in banking

I spent 25 years in banking. I sat across the table from small business owners in Greenville and Spartanburg every day, watching which businesses grew and which ones stalled. The ones that thrived treated their digital presence as a core part of the business, not an afterthought. Banking also taught me what has to be true before anything ships.

Then the front desk

After a banking layoff, I worked the evening desk at the Grand Bohemian Lodge and went back to school for web development, studying between check-ins. Simon Donoghue played piano in the lobby. His website platform raised the renewal price and told him to pay up or lose his site. He showed me the email at the desk, and I told him I could get him out. That was the day AvoTech started. It just didn't have a name yet. I built him a new site from scratch, on a stack he owns.

What I run now

LastGoonie is my film studio. The Wareham Wire is my news show. Greenville Reels is Greenville's arts & culture magazine. All three run on AI systems I built. The most private of them runs on a PC in my house, and it's the model for the Private AI I set up for clients: the AI works from your files, and your files stay in your building.

AI does the lift. The judgment, and the name on the work, stay mine.

How I work

You own it. Full stop. If someone else can turn your business off, it isn't your business. It's theirs, on loan. I build on accounts you own, with logins you control, at prices you understand.

The brief is always smaller than the real problem. "We need AI" is rarely the real problem. The real problem is the hours, and where they go.

Loyalty is a technology. A long-running client relationship is a system, not a sentiment. It takes maintenance, documentation, honest pricing, and the discipline to stay useful after the check clears.

One person, start to finish. The person who answers your first email is the one doing the work.

Greenville is home

I work in person across Greenville and the Upstate (Spartanburg, Anderson, Greer, Simpsonville), and remotely with clients nationwide. AvoTech Consulting LLC was founded in 2024.
